Can a practice permit be granted before the age of 16?
Unfortunately, no. New Jersey state law requires that you are at least 16 years of age before you can receive your NJ practice permit
Can I/my new driver take the NJ permit test before they attend a drivers ed course in school?
Yes! Any person 16 years or older can take the NJ permit test without having taken a drivers ed course. In order to do so, a licensed driving instructor must accompany them. Please call Fallon’s Driving School for further advice at (201) 405-0340.
When will I/my new driver obtain their NJ practice permit?
Upon the completion of the 6 hour behind the wheel training course.
Does Fallon’s Driving School provide accompaniment during the road test?
Yes! In ensuring that you or your soon-to-be licensed driver is as confident and comfortable as possible, we can arrange for a certified Fallon’s Driving School instructor to accompany you/your new driver to the NJ road test. The only thing we can’t do is take the test for them!

Does Fallon’s Driving School provide training for students with disabilities and/or special needs?

Yes. Fallon’s Driving School is certified to provide Adaptive Driver Training, or instruction for people with disabilities to learn to drive using vehicles that have been modified to accommodate a disability. Our services include instruction and driving lessons with our specially equipped vehicles.

Is there anything I can do besides 6 hours behind the wheel training to improve my driving or the chances of passing the NJ road test the first time?
Yes! Fallon’s Driving School offers additional training courses for future new drivers of all kinds. Whether it’s the Fallon’s Fix or our ever-popular Jump Start program, we will do everything we can to make sure you get your NJ drivers license, and are the safest driver possible. See services for more details. Further, Fallon’s Driving School highly recommends that you/your new driver take a Drive Safer Basic Car Control and Defensive Driving Course.  The Drive Safer program provides hands-on behind the wheel training in defensive driving, car control, collision avoidance and skid control and recovery, ensuring that your new driver has the skills to survive behind the wheel.
Is there a way to obtain a discount on my auto insurance if my new driver or I am a Fallon’s Driving School Customer?
You may be eligible for insurance discounts after completing the 6 hour behind the wheel training program and upon receipt of a Fallon’s Driving School “Certificate of Completion”. Check with your insurance provider for details.
Does Fallon’s Driving School offer defensive driving courses?

Fallon’s Driving School is proud to offer two options for defensive driving.  First is the Drive Safer Basic Car Control and Defensive Driving Course.  This is a behind the wheel and classroom defensive driving course offered through our partners at Drive Safer.  

We also offer an online defensive driving course that allows you to register to take a 6 hour defensive driving course completely online.  To access that course, simply click this link.

I’ve taken my written test and 6 hours, but I’m still not feeling confident. What can I do?

First off, you’re not alone! Fallon’s Driving School offers several services to provide extra training behind the wheel, whether you’ve trained with a different driving school or us. The Jump Start, Fallon’s Fix, and Drive Safer Car Control courses are all great options to consider. Please refer to our services page for more details and information on these courses.

Do I still need to take the NJ permit test if I am older than age 16?

Yes. Any new driver is required to complete the same process of taking the NJ permit test, and then practicing their driving with a NJ licensed driver over the age of 21 with at least 3 years of driving experience.  There are three different “routes” to take, and there are some differences for each one.
