Q. Can my child get their permit before they turn 16?

A. Unfortunately No.

Q. Can my child take the written knowledge test before they take the Drivers Education class in school?

A. YES, anyone who has attained the age of 16 can take the written knowledge test provided they are accompanied by a licensed NJ State Driving School.

Q. What documents does my child need to get started?

A. They will need either an original birth certificate or valid passport and the blue Drivers Ed Card unless they are taking the written knowledge test at DMV.

Q. When does my child get their Learners Permit?

A. At the completion of the 6 hours of training

Q. Do I have to schedule the road test?

A. NO. When your child gets their permit the location, date & time of test is already on the permit.
